This website was made after recognizing a gap in authentic and reasonable science journalism in this region. Bloggers may not be able to replace print and electronic journalism any time soon but they can surely fill in such gaps in developing countries - at least till science journalism becomes a more attractive business in the region.
What is science journalism? The essensce of science journalism and hence, the objective of this website is to translate scientific developments and research findings from technical jargon to a language understood by the larger society.
Why is science journalism important? The greatest beneficiaries of scientific discovery and innovation are people outside scientific circles. In the Pakistani setting, delivery of authentic and accessible scientific news and research findings will cultivate a much needed culture that appreciates research. This website will serve as a source of scientific information for students, policy makers, businessmen, housewives and the common man. Our focus will be to integrate 1) scientific literature, 2) opinions prevalent in scientific circles and 3) logical hypotheses. Along the way, we will also address myths and rumors prevalent in the Pakistani community.
Science Pakistan will invariably be a team effort of scientists in various fields dedicated to promotion of scientific awareness in the Pakistan public. If you feel you are such a scientist, please contact us and we will be pleased to work something out.
Science Pakistan is dedicated to easy accessibility. In order to stay that way, we are and will always remain open access. In addition, we would like to develop Urdu translations of articles posted on this website and will appreciate help in that regards.
